Artist Profile

 Kwame Nyongo is an illustration Artist.

Kwame's participations in the support for african animation includes the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Africa Animated! project in which he has served in the capacity as an animation trainer and production coordinator.

He also established the animation department at Ambatana Educational Trust (in partnership with Jacaranda Designs), as well as coordinated and taught drawing workshops with the African Sky Art Institute in Nairobi.

He also led several introduction to animation workshops with the ADGF (African Digital Graphics Forum) in association with Pixelcorps amongst others, as well as a contributor to the online resource for African artists, African Colours.

He is the current chairperson of the Association of Animation Artists Kenya (A3), which hosted its inaugural event 'Genesis' in August 2009.

He is a graduate of Haverford College and the Academy of Art University in the USA. While in the USA he interned in the art department of Industrial Light and Magic, as well as worked freelance with others prominent studios in the animation industry, greatly inspiring and broadening his creative abilities. 

Apart from teaching, he produces content for Apes in Space Ltd, Nairobi, as well as serves clients in Kenya and the international community.
