Chuka Machie -- Fine Art

Artist Profile

Chuka Machie is a Fine Artist.

Artist statement
"I am fascinated by the endless possibility of line and colour as a formidable force with the combined ability to bring into existence myriad of forms, creating the platform that gives full vent to the creative expression to our thoughts and feelings as it Affects the individual in relation to his environment" ~ Chuka Machie.

I am a writer and a self-taught artist from eastern part of Nigeria. I grew up influenced largely from the experiences in various cities in the country which includes Lagos, Port Harcourt and Enugu.

In the art circle I am influenced mostly by artists like Pablo Picasso and Cezanne whose artworks started as my early influence and inspiration.

The greatest credit as regards the most influence that shaped the direction of my art were the various contemporary African artists and masters whose styles of works has come to bear on my way of thinking.

I work mostly in watercolour, acrylic and mixed media. My style of artwork is largely contemporary, working in a distinctive manner that depicts a peculiar and personal style.

I have had my artwork exhibited in the ‘Life In My City’ art exhibition at the preliminary stage of the exhibition in Enugu organized by Alliance Francise in 2008, Nigeria.

I am a member of the Ward Nasse Art Gallery in New York.
